I hate to break it to you, but no one will read the email you send out prior to your golf outing with all the important details. Even with the subject line "IMPORTANT—Please Read!!!" your announcements will go unnoticed.

No one wants to bother reading anything until they have to. But they don't mind getting frustrated by something they could have avoided if they'd read your FREAKING pre-event email!

This is why you must create a cart flier. By boiling everything down onto an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper and placing it where they can't miss it, golfers will take the time to read.

But what should you include on your flier? Here are some suggestions.

Cart Flier Information

Live Scoring Link/QR Code: If you're using live scoring in your event, the link and/or QR code has to be front and center, along with instructions on how to use it. Live scoring is only as good as the number of people who use it, and if golfers are confused, they won't use it!

Event-Specific Rules: Lay out any special rules for your event. For example, the group has to use each golfer's drive at least once, or each golfer gets one mulligan.

Schedule of Events: Detail the schedule, from check-in to the awards ceremony. This keeps the day flowing smoothly and ensures no one misses out on the fun (or the food).

Emergency Contact Information: Provide contact numbers for event organizers in case someone needs help. For example, they tipped their cart over on hole 13. Hopefully, they won't need it, but if you don't include it, it is guaranteed they will.

Skill Shots/Hole Competitions: Let everyone know where to find skill shots or hole competitions. These little challenges add a lot of fun and excitement to the event, but because of their placement, golfers may not know they are on a competition hole until after they've had a chance to overthink it.

Drink Carts/Stations: Locations: If you have drink stations, mark their locations on the course so golfers know where to get drinks and how many provisions to grab so they can make it to the next drink station.

Course Tips: Hopefully, you'll include a paper scorecard that includes the course layout, so there's no need to create your own version. But a nice-to-include is a list of tips on how to play the various holes on the course. Some of your golfers may not have played there before, so some insider knowledge can go a long way.

Sponsor Logos: A section featuring your event sponsors is an absolute must. A cart flier is the easiest way to give them the visibility they are paying for.

Preparing your golfers with a golf cart flier is essential for a smooth, fun-filled day. It will also help you avoid being bombarded with all the questions you answered in the email sent the day before the event.
